navigation search. Entering Ayrshire on the A77. The County of Ayr is a shire in Lowland Scotland, along the eastern shore of the Firth of Clyde and inland to the hills. It is bounded by Renfrewshire in the north; Lanarkshire to the east; Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire to the south; Dumfriesshire to the south-east; and the sea to the west.
