  1. Marischal College (/ ˈ m ɑː r ʃ l / MAR-shəl) is a large granite building on Broad Street in the centre of Aberdeen in north-east Scotland, and since 2011 has been the headquarters of Aberdeen City Council.

  2. Marischal College was founded in 1593, becoming Aberdeen's second university. King's College had been founded in 1495. The two Colleges merged in 1860 to form the modern University of Aberdeen. Medicine and Law were taught at Marischal and Arts and Divinity at King's College.

Marischal College has been leased by the University to Aberdeen City Council, and has been renovated to become the Council's new headquarters, as well as the city centre base for Police Scotland. All medical teaching is now centred at Foresterhill, including the new Suttie Centre for Teaching and Learning in Healthcare.

  6. Marischal College holds a prominent place in Aberdeens cityscape due to its striking granite facade, which makes it one of the largest granite buildings in the world. Its Gothic Revival architecture adds a unique charm to Broad Street where it is located.

  7. Marischal College Premises. At its foundation in 1593, Marischal College took over buildings that had belonged to the Greyfriars within the town of ‘New Aberdeen’ - post reformation in ideals and location.
