Il primo lungometraggio di Nico van den Brink è uno degli esempi più recenti tra quei film che cercano linfa vitale dalla tradizione folklorica del proprio paese, ma combina anche altri elementi che hanno a che fare con la Storia archeologica dei Paesi Bassi.
Trama. Betriek (Sallie Harmsen) vive con la figlia Hanna (Noor van der Velden), il padre Roelof (Fred Goessens) e la madre Elske (Anneke Blok). Sulla famiglia pesano le conseguenze di un passato drammatico: trent'anni prima la nonna di Bietrek è stata brutalmente uccisa.
