Milestone Media Company LLC is a company best known for creating Milestone Comics, which were published and distributed by DC Comics, and the Static Shock animated series. It was founded in 1993 by a coalition of African-American artists and writers, consisting of Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle and Christopher Priest.

Milestone’s 2021 relaunch, once again powered by DC’s publishing might, takes inspiration from the Black Lives Matter movement to reflect today’s reality. “This is for a new generation of readers,” says Cowan. “Milestone has always been about the times we’re in now.”
The debut of Milestone and its heroes represented a seismic change in comic books—and its impact continues to be felt to this day. Now Milestone Media is helmed by Reginald Hudlin and Denys Cowan, and DC is relaunching Milestone Comics and reintroducing its characters to new audiences.
