Sudeley Castle is a Grade I listed [1] castle in the parish of Sudeley, in the Cotswolds, near to the medieval market town of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England. The castle has 10 notable gardens covering some 15 acres (6.1 ha) within a 1,200-acre (490 ha) estate nestled within the Cotswold hills.

What to do. Inside the castle. Sudeley was once a royal residence, closely associated with some of the most famous English monarchs, including Edward IV, Richard III, Henry VIII, Lady Jane Grey, Katherine Parr, Elizabeth I and Charles I.
Sudeley Castle was a base for Richard III during the Wars of the Roses and saw battle during the Civil War – look out for the cannon ball hole that can still be seen in the Octagon Tower. On ascending the throne in 1509, Sudeley Castle became one of King Henry VIII's royal residences. He visited with Anne Boleyn in July 1535.
