From nuclear tourism in Japan to Pablo Escobar-inspired tourism in Columbia to frontier tourism in Turkmenistan, David visits the world’s grisly and offbeat destinations, meeting travelers drawn to them, and the people telling these stories day after day. Season 1 of Dark Tourist premiered on July 20, 2018.
Dark Tourist. In Kazakhstan, David and a fellow dark tourist swim in a lake formed by a nuclear blast. Later, David's trip to Turkmenistan doesn't go as planned. David visits a town hit by heavy radiation, hikes through a supposedly haunted forest and explores an abandoned island with its former residents.
