La Saxe (en allemand : Sachsen [ˈ z a k s n̩]), en forme longue « État libre de Saxe » (en allemand : Freistaat Sachsen [ˈ f ʁ a ɪ̯ ʃ t a ː t ˈ z a k s n̩] ; en bas sorabe : Zwězkowy kraj Sakska ; en haut sorabe : Swobodny stat Sakska), est un Land de la République fédérale d'Allemagne.

Le terme de Saxe fut donné à cet ensemble, qui couvre en fait des terres très différentes de celles qui, à l'origine, portaient ce nom. Lorsque l'Allemagne retrouve son unité, en 1990, elle donne le nom de Saxe à trois Länder : la Saxe, avec Dresde pour capitale, la Saxe-Anhalt, avec Magdebourg, et la Basse-Saxe, avec Hanovre.
La Saxe (en allemand : Sachsen) est une région historique d' Allemagne qui correspond au Land de Saxe et à la région du cours moyen de l’ Elbe centrée sur l'ancienne marche de Misnie. Ces territoires furent réunis sous l'autorité de la maison de Wettin au XVe siècle.
