Karlsruhe, seconda città della regione del Baden-Wurttemberg dopo Stoccarda, si trova all’estremità sud-ovest della Germania, al confine con la Francia. Sorge sulla sponda est del Reno, il quale forma il limite occidentale del territorio comunale; tuttavia, il centro storico di Karlsruhe si trova a quasi 8 chilometri dal fiume.
