Uelzen (German: ⓘ; Low German: Ülz'n), officially the Hanseatic Town of Uelzen (German: Hansestadt Uelzen), is a town in northeast Lower Saxony, Germany, and capital of the district of Uelzen. It is part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, a Hanseatic town and an independent municipality.
Uelzen ist Standort der zweitgrößten Zuckerfabrik Europas. Sie ist ein Werk der Nordzucker AG, dem zweitgrößten deutschen Unternehmen der Branche, das 1997 aus der Fusion der Braunschweiger Zuckerverbund Nord AG (ZVN) und der Zucker-Aktiengesellschaft Uelzen-Braunschweig (ZAG) entstand.

Uelzen (German pronunciation:) is a district (Landkreis) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Gifhorn , Celle , Heidekreis , Lüneburg and Lüchow-Dannenberg , and by the state of Saxony-Anhalt (district of Altmarkkreis Salzwedel ).
