11 mag 2024 · Carlo Maratta (born May 15, 1625, Camerano, Papal States [Italy]—died Dec. 15, 1713, Rome) was one of the leading painters of the Roman school in the later 17th century and one of the last great masters of Baroque classicism.
Carlo Maratta moved to Rome in 1636 at the age of eleven. The following year he entered Andrea Sacchi’s studio, remaining there until Sacchi’s death in 1661. His master’s style fell within the most classicising trend in Roman painting and Sacchi upheld line and disegno over colour.

19 giu 2024 · Carlo Maratta. 1625 - 1713. Maratta was born in Camerano. He was about in Rome from 1636-45 and trained under Andrea Sacchi. In 1650 he was in Rome again, and after the deaths of Sacchi and Pietro da Cortona he was the leading painter there. He died in Rome.
