Lothar Matthäus, Jahrgang 1961 und geboren in Erlangen, ist seit 2019 Ehrenpreisträger der DFL. Mit der Nationalmannschaft nahm er von 1982 bis 1998 an fünf WM-Turnieren teil und holte 1990 in Italien als Kapitän durch einen 1:0-Sieg im Finale gegen Argentinien den Titel.
