Hildesheim is a district ( Landkreis) in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Hanover, Peine, Wolfenbüttel, Goslar, Northeim, Holzminden and Hamelin-Pyrmont . History. Hildesheim ( [hɪldəshaɪ̯m] , niederdeutsch Hilmessen/Hilmssen, lateinisch Hildesia) ist eine Großstadt und Oberzentrum in Niedersachsen. Sie liegt rund 30 Kilometer südöstlich der Landeshauptstadt Hannover und hat 101.858 Einwohner (31. Dezember 2022). [2]

Description. The Hildesheim Forest, which attain a height of 359 m in the Griesberg, are crossed by numerous waterways, hiking trails and forest tracks, but only by one state road, the L 485, which links Hildesheim via Diekholzen to Sibbesse.
