In 1909, the Scottish Labour Party amalgamated with its sister party to create the UK-wide political organisation. Its formation was the result of many years of struggle by working class people, trade unionists and socialists, united by the goal of working class voices represented in British Parliament.
The Scottish Labour Party is a political party in Scotland. It is part of the British Labour Party. The party's policies usually promote social democracy and democratic socialism. It also supports Scotland remaining part of the United Kingdom. In the Scottish Parliament, it is the third party. It controls 22 out of 129 seats.
