Biografia. Roddy Doyle è nato a Dublino nel 1958. Studente presso la St. Fintan’s Christian Brothers School di Sutton, vi fu soprannominato “Punk Doyle”, per via dell’orecchino che portava e soprattutto per il suo continuo intercalare le frasi con la parola “bleedin” (maledizione).
