William Glegg was the founder of the Calday Grange Grammar School. A man of considerable local standing, he founded the school in 1636. [1] He gave 15 acres (61,000 m 2 ) of land to provide an annual income of £12 per year for a schoolmaster.

Calday Grange Grammar School has served the community of Wirral since 1636. We currently offer a free, grammar school education to nearly 1400 students, with approximately 200 boys in each of Years 7 to 11 and a mixed Sixth Form of nearly 500 students.
