The garden of the priory is a sensory experience, with pleasant sights, sounds and smells. The location is also good, being placed alongside the river, although modern work means the bridge is nearby which does impact the peaceful atmosphere some other monasteries have. Its status as a free site is also a bonus.

Haverforwest Castle cuts an impressive sight when viewed from the banks of the river below. It has been a Haverfordwest landmark since the 12th century. The castle is first mentioned by Giraldus Cambrensis (See Manorbier Castle) as one of the places he visited in 1188 with Archbishop Baldwin.
