  3. 30 nov 2004 · Some of Avedon's signature style is in the lighting, but some happens in the printing. Study the catchlights in the eyes to get a sense of the lighting. As Ellis said, it varies. If you have access to back issues of the New Yorker over the last few years, there are a lot of great, more recent Avedon photos in there.

  10. 22 set 1997 · I read that Richard Avedon's favors his 80 mm planar for almost all of his photography. It, the 80 mm Planar, happens to sit on a Rolleiflex though (a whole bunch of preloaded Rolleiflexes, to be more accurate). For us ambivalent creatures who cannot decide which film to use for the next 12 frames it's a blessing with the H-Blad film backs.
