I think it is hard to read Kierkegaard if you are used to the academic western analytic philosophy tradition. I agree that Nietzsche is so bombastic that he is able to get a rise out of me, at some times anger and at other times laughter. Kierkegaard is much less emotive in general and given to less highs and lows.

If it's just Kierkegaard's writing style that is bothering you, there's not much you can do. Remember that you're reading philosophy here, it's not meant to be read as a novel.
