15 ott 2018 · Major Patrick Ferguson’s rifle is one of the most interesting and arguably successful early attempts at a breech-loading service rifle. Coupling a surprisingly robust screw breech block/plug with rifling Ferguson’s rifle was said to be capable of an impressive seven rounds per minute.

17 ott 2018 · Developed in the mid 1770s by a young Scottish light infantry officer, the Ferguson Rifle was heavily influenced by Isaac de la Chaumette's earlier breech loading system. It used a threaded breech plug which screwed up and down to close the breech and saw action during the War of Independence.
