I love this album. I checked this out of the library on cassette and made a copy back when I was a teenager in the 80's. I have always wanted to buy a copy, but I have never found it available until now. There is a lot of variety in the pieces John plays here, and his playing is spectacular as always.

10 feb 2007 · John Williams, well known by his beautyful performances on baroque and clasicist suites, mainly transcribed from luthe or mandolin scores, shows a superb behaviour in latin-american songs. The opening track, Antonio Lauro's Seis por Derecho (referring to the guitar six strings), is a marvel itself that's worth the price of the album.

John Williams dared to rebel when he drew on Richard Wagner’s style and leitmotif technique for the music to Star Wars. The parallels between Williams and Wagner are hard to ignore. The famous Star Wars main theme, for example, stylistically combines Siegfried’s horn call from the Ring of the Nibelung with a march rhythm from military music.
