Der Leprechaun ist per Definition ein Wesen, das sich durch seine geringe Größe (maximal 90 cm) auszeichnet. Er ist untersetzt, grün gekleidet und trägt eine Schusterschürze (Leigh Bhrogan auf Irisch-Gälisch). Man erkennt ihn an seinem Zylinderhut, seinem roten Bart und seinen Schnallenschuhen. Es soll nur männliche Leprechauns geben.
