Sara. (1992 film) Sara ( Persian: سارا, also Romanized as Sārā) is a 1993 motion picture directed by Dariush Mehrjui. The film is based on Henrik Ibsen 's 1879 play A Doll's House, with Sara in the role of Nora, Hessam in the role of Torvald, Sima in the role of Ms Linde and Goshtasb in the role of Nils Krogstad .
Such a negative depiction of the working class caused the film to be banned for several years by the Islamic Republic. This was followed by a trilogy of films centered on female protagonists: Sara (1993), Pari (1995), and Leila (1997). The latter film is, in my opinion, Mehrjui’s post-Revolution masterpiece.
