Hugh Ramapolo Masekela (4 April 1939 – 23 January 2018) was a South African trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, singer and composer who was described as "the father of South African jazz". Masekela was known for his jazz compositions and for writing well-known anti-apartheid songs such as " Soweto Blues " and " Bring Him Back Home ".
19 mar 2018 · Hugh Masekela's expansive double-LP here isn't necessarily a groundbreaking jazz fusion or afrobeat album, but it is damn good jazz. Masekela's musicians are sharp throughout, and the compositions are filled with all kinds of creative flavors and feels that paint vivid scenery across each of these songs - it's that feeling that's the epitome of jazz to me, and Masekela delivers in droves.
Home Is Where the Music Is is a 1972 jazz and Afrobeat double LP by Hugh Masekela issued by the joint American label Chisa/Blue Thumb Records. The album was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
