College of Fine Arts Requirements Pre-Screening Requirement. School of Music applicants in cello, double bass, flute, viola, piano, trombone, trumpet, violin, and voice are required to submit a pre-screening recording by December 1. Boston University College of Fine Arts (CFA) is a community of fine and performing artists — musicians, visual artists, and theatre-makers — who believe in the power of creativity. While artistic and academic rigor are signatures of the program, education within BU College of Fine Arts extends beyond the walls of the practice rooms and studios.
All undergraduate applicants to the College of Fine Arts must apply through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and meet the standards of admission to Boston University. In addition to completing an application to Boston University, all prospective CFA students must have an artistic evaluation by the College of Fine Arts.
These skills are central to a rigorous education in the School of Visual Arts and College of Fine Arts where students develop their contemporary and personal voices informed by community, history, experience, and imaginative speculation about the future.
