Ran Laurie. William George Ranald Mundell Laurie, besser bekannt als Ran Laurie (* 4. Juni 1915 in Grantchester, Cambridgeshire; † 19. September 1998 in Hethersett, Norfolk ), war ein britischer Ruderer. Er war mit dem Zweier ohne Steuermann erfolgreich und wurde 1948 Olympiasieger in dieser Disziplin.
Laurie senior, che tutti chiamavano Ran, è stato definito dal saggista Daniel James Brown “forse il capovoga britannico migliore della sua generazione, 85 kg di potenza, grazia e acume”. Ran Laurie was married to Patricia Laidlaw from 1944 to 1989 when she died of motor neuron disease; they were both members of their local Presbyterian church, which is now St Columba’s United Reformed Church in Oxford.

Ran Laurie, who was educated at Monkton Combe and Selwyn College, Cambridge, established a fine reputation as stroke when he was an undergraduate. He was in the winning Cambridge eight for three successive years and in the last tow years, 1935 and 1936, he was the stroke.
