Larry Fong werd geboren in Los Angeles. Zijn ouders groeiden op in Hawaï. Ook zijn grootouders waren afkomstig van de Amerikaanse eilandengroep, op uitzondering van zijn grootmoeder van vaderszijde, die afkomstig was van het Chinese Guangzhou.
