14 ott 2017 · In Bangkok, at least in the early 60s, it’s all the rage in men’s formal wear to sport your bowtie under your shirt collar. The Bangkok of this film definitely doesn’t come off as the dark gangster-ridden hellhole that The Hangover 2 presented. That film, in retrospect, was more of a “panic in Bangkok” that this film ever approaches.
Panic in Bangkok (Original title: Banco à Bangkok pour OSS 117) is a 1964 French-Italian action adventure espionage film directed by André Hunebelle.Secret Agent OSS 117, Colonel Hubert Bonisseur de La Bath (Kerwin Mathews) is sent to Thailand following the murder of OSS agent Christopher Lemmon (Raoul Billerey).

The OSS 117 French spy series consisted of one film in the 1950s, five films in the 1960's, one film in the 1970s and three since 2000. The first two in the 1960s star American actor Kerwin Mathews. This is the second of those. As much as I like the Euro-Spy genre, in this case my main interest was to see what Bangkok looked like over 55 years ago.
