A serviceable Allan "Rocky" Lane B-western for Republic Pictures where they give it a gimmick title to trigger the curiosity of those expecting a Billy the Kid story. There is a treasure map that's supposedly leads to Billy the Kid's treasure, but it's just smoke and mirrors for a very ordinary B-western plot. The plot moves along like any other western of it's kind regardless.
Five people have part of a map that leads to Billy the Kid's treasure. Stanley kills Howard to get his hands on his share of the map. Marshal Rocky Lane poses as a criminal and takes possession of the remaining four parts of the map in the hopes that Howard's killer will contact him.
