Female vocal trio originally comprised of sisters Peggy DeCastro (1921-2004), Cherie DeCastro (1922-2010) and Babette DeCastro (1925-1992). The DeCastros were raised in Havana, Cuba, but emigrated to Miami, FL in 1942 from where they launched their show business careers.

The trio -- who had been calling themselves the Fernando DeCastro Sisters -- had lopped off the first part of their name in Miami, Cherie explains, "Because the owner thought our full name took up too much space on the marquee. "In Miami, our act was -- believe me -- so bad that we were like the (comic trio) Ritz Brothers,” says Peggy.

24 mar 2010 · Cherie DeCastro, the last surviving member of the DeCastro Sisters, whose sultry ballad “Teach Me Tonight” sold millions of copies in 1954, died on March 14 in Las Vegas. She was 87.
