  2. Colin Rowe Professor Colin Frederick Rowe (1920–1999), architectural critic and historian, was born on 27 March 1920 in Bolton upon Dearne, near Doncaster, Yorkshire. He attended school at Wath upon Dearne, and won a scholarship to Liverpool University in 1939 to study at the School of Architecture.
