Dennis Diken is drummer for the Smithereens and for the Kinks' Dave Davies. I talked with Dennis on Jan. 7, 2019, on what it was like to lose Smithereens lead singer Pat DiNizio, where the band goes from here, and whether he knew in advance that brother Ray Davies would reunite on stage with brother Dave for the first time in 19 years during Dave Davies' concert in December 2015.

25 apr 2022 · Wherever their travels took them, singer/guitarist Pat DiNizio, drummer Dennis Diken, lead guitarist Jim Babjak, and bassist Mike Mesaros proudly wore their Jersey roots on their sleeve. Following DiNizio’s death in 2017, the band has carried on using guest vocalists, primarily Marshall Crenshaw and Robin Wilson (of Gin Blossoms fame).
