The Great Mosque was constructed in 785 on the orders of Abd al-Rahman I, founder of the Islamic Emirate of Córdoba.

(fn. 73) The cost was estimated at £14,000. The architect was Edward Blore and the builders Messrs. Grundy and H. Hartley (fn. 72) (Plate 11a, fig. 39).

Before this, she was Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland from 8 March 1702. Anne was born during the reign of her uncle King Charles II.
