17 dic 2017 · Henry VIII restored the Earldom of Salisbury to Margaret and she became known as Countess of Salisbury. She also now owned all the lands that had been owned by her father, George, Duke of Clarence. This made Margaret one of the richest women in the land.
As countess of Salisbury, Margaret Pole was the first and, apart from Anne Boleyn, the only woman in sixteenth-century England to hold a peerage title in her own right. Her estates fell within seventeen English counties. She also held lands in Wales and Calais.
