30 gen 2022 · He joined Mean Street, then The Lasers as their guitarist, which is where he met bassist Paul Gardiner. Soon, the duo and drummer Bob Simmonds became Tubeway Army. Simmonds didn’t last long and was replaced by Webb’s uncle Jess Lidyard. The trio took on a pseudonym each – Webb became Valerian, Gardiner became Scarlett and Lidyard was Rael.
Jess Lidyard is the former drummer of Tubeway Army. He is bandleader Gary Numan's uncle, and played on the band's self-titled debut album and on the highly successful Replicas, which featured the hit "Are 'Friends' Electric?". He is the long-time drummer of the Windsor band Brock and the Badgers.

25 apr 2010 · Can anyone out there tell me whether drummer Jess Lidyard is playing straight 16th note rhythms on the hi-hat with accents, or just a variety of dynamic levels from the beginning, until the end of the song. If possible, does anyone know if there is a certain technique that he uses to get those hi-hat rhythm sounds ie. moeller or push pull.
