Jean de Florette is een Franse dramafilm uit 1986, geregisseerd door Claude Berri. Hij is gebaseerd op het gelijknamige eerste deel van de tweedelige roman L'Eau des collines (1963) van Marcel Pagnol , en vormt een tweeluik met het vervolg Manon des sources (1986).
The point of the film is not to create suspense, but to capture the relentlessness of human greed, the feeling that the land is so important the human spirit can be sacrificed to it. To create this feeling, Berri stands well back with his camera. There are not a lot of highly charged closeups, to turn the story into a series of phony high points.

27 apr 2024 · Jean de Florette overtuigt qua sfeer, interesseert als verhaal en biedt charme via zijn acteurs om er achter te komen dat dit een eerste deel is van een film uit twee, oke dan. Maar goed, het eerste deel overtuigt dermate dat er interesse is voor het tweede deel dat ook in de top250 staat.
