1 gen 2024 · As Iwerks’ biographer Jeff Ryan has commented: “[Iwerks] was the person who was doing most of the behind-the-scenes work. And when Walt was taking credit, Ub was the one who was denied credit.
With Ub Iwerks, he developed the character Mickey Mouse in 1928, his first highly popular success; he also provided the voice for his creation in the early years. As the studio grew, he became more adventurous, introducing synchronized sound , full-color three-strip Technicolor , feature-length cartoons and technical developments in cameras.

And though Walt received most of the public credit for progressing the place of animation in film, Ub was the technical wizard behind many of those accomplishments.
