After Shanghai Fortress, carrying the promise of being the next Wandering Earth, completely imploded in the box office of China, I kinda had to see it. Where the former film perfectly channeled the Chinese feel of an Emmerich sci-fi disaster flick (the good parts,) Shanghai Fortress channels the feel of an Emmerich sci-fi disaster flick (the bad parts.)
