The 6th Friend was completed in late 2016 and then made various festival circuits last year, leading to its theatrical and VOD release last month. Even more, its staunch messages of female empowerment seem critical in the currently heated sociopolitical climate, which gives the film even more gravitas.
13 mag 2019 · But overall there’s enough fresh material in THE 6 th FRIEND to hold your attention and the cast does a good job with it. Dominique Swain (MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT, FACE/OFF) and Monique Rosario also deserve a mention for their performances. The result is an enjoyable, female-centered horror film that’s worth watching.

The film starts with six female friends throwing themselves a party when a man, Tyler (David Villada) arrives bearing gifts, i.e. drugs. As the party gears up, Tyler passes around hallucinogenics and, in a funny segment, a pizza delivery guy arrives just as the high is hitting the women.

Albers is a fiery redhead who gives a performance full of panache and quirky twists, often times performing a scene within a scene. Her character is equal parts dramatic actress and elegant sociopath, and she does the role a justice that is oddly spooky. The 6th Friend still.
