Summary Based on Dickens' novel, the story concerns Amy Dorrit who has spent her young life with her family in London's debtor prison and Arthur Clennam, a kindly but ineffectual gentleman, who returns to England after twenty years in China and risks everything to help Little Dorrit's family.
Little Dorrit: A Story Told in Two Films is divided into two sections, one for each film. Part 1 is called “Nobody’s Fault” (which incidentally was Dickens’s own choice of title for the first few installments of the original serial between 1855 and 1857). Part 2, relating to the second film, is called “Little Dorrit’s Story”.

In May 1855, Charles Dickens confided to a friend that he had found a “capital name” for his new work, Nobody's Fault, a title that remained until he completed the first three numbers and renamed it Little Dorrit (Letters 7.703).
