He received two competitive Golden Globe Awards, a BAFTA Award, and a Grammy Award as well as nominations for two Emmy Awards and a Tony Award.

Many of the gay rumors surrounding Sidney Poitier ( In the Heat of the Night, Lilies of the Field) seem to be tied to his obsessive attention to his body, like most actors. However the poll suggests that a big majority - 72% - of respondents don't believe that he was gay.
