Unfortunately, some of the electronic sounds and placements do not fit the beauty and emotion of the piece.

There's just too little of Kimbra's own kaleidoscopic sense of melody and arrangement across the often-sparse A Reckoning. It's not a bad record and Kimbra is still playing with different genres and surprising collaborations as she has in the past decade. What often feels missing is her own unique stamp as an artist.
