The Tisch School of the Arts was founded to improve education for both theater and film industries. In 1985, Preston Robert Tisch gave the money to the school that helped to renovate it and buy new locatis on Broadway. As a symbol of gratefulness of the school's management and the generosity of the Tisch, the school got its modern name. References

14 dic 2021 · NYU Tisch School of the Arts has received a major gift from the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation to establish the Martin Scorsese Institute of Global Cinematic Arts, an academic and production institute which will encompass the new, state-of-the-art Martin Scorsese Virtual Production Center, the Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies, and support for student scholarships.
25 dic 2022 · In 1972, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting became the first professional actor training school to become affiliated with NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The program has continued since, leading students to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and combining academic studies at New York University with professional training at the studio.
19 ott 2023 · New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts is accepting applications for a new, entirely online Master of Arts degree in Producing, a flexible, 15-month program that will cover every aspect of producing. Starting in the fall of 2024, students can complete the 32-credit program without moving to New York City.
