So I’m not going overboard recounting his Fred Abong origins in preparation for maybe seeing him put out some bass talent with the Kristin Hersh Trio – just do it. Or wait until the guy comes around playing solo, maybe. Either way it’s totally worth the effort. Versatility rocks, and so does Fred.
4 ago 2023 · As before, Fred’s voice never really cares for weight of any kind; his thin, and haunting notes are merely an accompaniment to the music here, but he’s more than aware that this unfussy, minimalist approach really works, and those who’ve followed Abong’s solo outings since 2018’s ‘Homeless’ will certainly appreciate this number.

Fred Abong is a singer/songwriter and one time bass player for influential art-punk band Throwing Muses and indie-pop band Belly. Prior to that, Fred was active as a drummer and bass player in numerous bands centered on the Newport, RI hardcore punk scene. In addition to playing music, Fred earned his Ph.D. in Humanities in 2016.

Prior to joining Throwing Muses, Fred played drums and bass in numerous bands from the Newport, RI hardcore punk scene, which gave rise to bands like Vicious Circle and Verbal Assault.
