And if, for any reason, you are learning about this record for the first time, then you are in for an absolute treat.
As a result, Haunted received no further promotional support and the album faded from the market place. In 2004, Modern/ FEI sold the Poe Masters for Hello and Haunted to Sheridan Square Music who merged in 2005 with V2 Records, which cataloged the Poe masters under a sub-label called IndieBlu.
Haunted is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Poe, released in 2000 after a five-year hiatus from her debut album Hello in 1995. The self-produced album was created as a tribute to her father, and counterpart to her brother Mark Z. Danielewski's novel House of Leaves.
15 mag 2018 · Then there’s the elephant ghost in the room — Poe’s father, a film director for whom Haunted is something of a tribute. He passed away several years earlier, but he “appears” on this album in voice samples she found on cassettes in his belongings. It’s fair to say Poe’s relationship with her parents is complicated.
Such an amazingly constructed album, however. She wrote this album not only for her father, but to go along with her brother's book, House of Leaves. From what I've been told, Poe cleaned out her father's attic when he passed away, and she found tapes of speeches he made, and that's the recordings of her father that you hear in this CD.
