Here we have a clear promise of the Messiah and an announcement of the work he will accomplish as the messianic seed of the woman who will triumph over the seed of the serpent. This gospel promise is reiterated throughout the Old Testament so Paul can write to the Corinthian church, “For all the promises of God find their Yes in [Christ].
