Dead Beat was originally created as part of the Offline Film Festival's 57hr film-making challenge where it won the grand prize and a guaranteed slot at Galway Film Fledh 2018. Dead Beat is about friendship, grief and masculinity; wrapped up inside a DIY punk aesthetic.
My awesome son turns 23 today, and requested I watch and review this film for one of his birthday gifts. He sold it to me as a kind of cross between "Combat Shock" and "The Warriors", and needless to say I was intrigued. Luckily, I was quite enamored with this wildly violent, shot on 16mm film.
