Despite such pie-in-the-sky artificiality (especially so back in the days of Big Country wild West days) this 166 minute film is engaging and easy to watch. The acting is fairly good to very good at times, too (especially Burl Ives, I think, who the viewer can almost see thinking sometimes, as his character computes new information).
