The heroin, Gloria Davis, played by dark-eyed Lorraine de Delle, is writing a thesis that alleges that cannibalism was a myth perpetrate by the white man, as an excuse to take native lands.
11 set 2003 · Cannibal Ferox is perhaps one of the few of these cannibal films with any redeeming merit. Unlike most of the other films in the genre, it has a message that potently questions the extremes that it serves up – the central character’s quest to deconstruct the cannibalism myth is played with much ironic regard.
Cannibal Ferox is Umberto Lenzi's second foray into the cannibal subgenre (after Eaten Alive, which I haven't seen yet) and it luckily contains less animal cruelty and less rape than Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust. Sadly it also has less of a compelling story, less spectacular gore* and less nudity.
28 apr 2017 · Cannibal Ferox may lack the innovation of Deodato’s stomach-turner but, the thing about Lenzi, is that his movies are seldom dull and this is absolutely no exception to that rule. I’m not altogether sure that the term “popcorn cannibal flick” would ever take off but, if it did, then this would be the definitive fast food front runner.
