Bolt Thrower est un groupe de Death Metal formé en 1986 à Coventry (Angleterre) par Gavin Ward et Barry Thomson, rapidement rejoints par Andrew Whale et Alan West.Une première démo In Battle There Is No Law sort en avril 1987, suivi par Concession Of Pain quelques mois plus tard, tandis qu'un bassiste, Alex Tweedy, fait un passage éclair, vite remplacé par Jo Bench.
