Margaret Beckett. Dame Margaret Mary Beckett, född Jackson 15 januari 1943 i Ashton-under-Lyne i Lancashire, är en brittisk politiker ( Labour ). Hon var Storbritanniens utrikesminister från maj 2006 till juni 2007. Beckett var 1974 – 1979 ledamot av underhuset för Lincoln och är sedan 1983 ledamot för Derby South. [ 1]
Dame Margaret Mary Beckett DBE PC MP (née Jackson; lahir 15 Januari 1943) adalah seorang politikus Partai Buruh Britania Raya yang menjadi anggota parlemen sejak 1983. Ia menjadi Wakil Ketua Partai Buruh di bawah kepemimpinan John Smith dari 1992 sampai 1994, dan menjabat sebagai Ketua Partai Buruh sementara setelah kematian mendadak Smith.
Margaret Beckett was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire (now Greater Manchester) in 1943. Her mother was a teacher and her father a carpenter whose early death precipitated family poverty. Aged 9 Margaret moved with her family to Norfolk and returned to Manchester to study at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) where she took a degree in metallurgy .
The Rt Hon Dame Margaret Beckett is the Labour MP for Derby South, and has been an MP continually since 9 June 1983.
